You can add my F-Droid repository to the F-Droid app:
https://www.ghisler.com/fdroid.htm
It doesn't work with some other third party stores like neo store, though:

Why? Many apps update themselves. What's the reason?

F-droid shows version 3.42beta5d as the newest TC. Google Play shows TC 3.42 (final). Is it OK?

Confirmed. I had 3.41 (Google Play version) installed. Version 3.42d was not listed by F-Droid. I disabled and then enabled the Total Commander repository and then all was OK.

That's odd, 3.42d is in the non-beta repository:

Maybe you only added the beta repository? This way you would only get beta versions.

How could I have disabled the Total Commander repository if I only added the beta repository?
I had both repositories. Beta versions and final versions were listed in F-Droid, but not the latest final version.

Yes, that was that case. Maybe you should refine description in the forum message:
One repository contains the latest release versions, and the other one contains only beta versions.
The description on the web page is better, but I can't see any explanation what "d" means in a version number.

I assume you know it means "unrestricted version with included apk installer" and you want it mentioned?
BTW, the website is not yet updated to version 3.42.

That would be "U" (as unrestricted), I presume.

Then read d for definitely unrestricted

I suspect that D is for
The Dev's Alternative.

So all the same - what is the only true and guaranteed way to receive the latest updates of this forum version of Total?
To setup one more app? Really? Only for TC I must install and F-Droid?

Or install the
TC App installer and use the restricted version.
