Glitch in Multi-Rename Tool in Windows XP x64

Post by *ValentinP »

In beta 7+ and in Windows XP x64 opening a Multi-Rename Tool shows incompletely filled "Rename mask: file name" dialog box. Redrawing a Tool's dialog after resizing repairs the box appearance. This only happens in the Windows Classic style mode. Nothing similar has been observed in 32bit TC in XP32 or 64bit TC in Windows 7.

For me it appears a little bit different, but still not as it should be. I can add that, when starting with a fresh wincmd.ini, it looks OK the first time the MRT is opened but it's glitched on all subsequent calls.

[ADD]
It has something to do with RenameX and/or RenameY in the resolution-specific section of wincmd.ini (1280x960 (8x16) in my case). When deleting RenameX there's no glitch.

Thank you Dalai!

I followed your suggestion about deleting RenameX in wincmd.ini section (1920x1200 (10x20) in my case). And it was perfect after the initial opening of a dialog... but after that there was again and every subsequent time the same incomplete dialog box. Mind you, the deleted RenameX value was not even recreated anymore.

with respect,

Valentin

You write "In beta 7+", does that mean that it didn't occur in beta 6 or 10.52, or just that you didn't test it?

In beta 7 I stumbled upon this glitch, but I have beta 6 at hand and had it tested just now. The situation there is the same, So, at least beta 6 is a culprit.

I can test any previous version, if it will help you! Are there any links?

Sorry, I must be blind! The same situation is already in the last stable version (10.52). and I have somehow missed/ignored it,

I have just found TC version 9.51 RC6 on your site and nothing is wrong there. So, something happened in 9.52.

use
https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/finals/
and
https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/betas/
for testing purposes. There you can find any TC version.

Thank you for the links!

Results of all the tests:

v. 10.00 OK
v. 10.50 wrong

10.50 betas:

beta 1 OK
betas 2-5 wrong

excerpts from the History.txt between beta 1 and 2 regarding Multi-Rename Tool:

20.04.22 Fixed: MULTIRENAME command didn't support = and == prefix in "parameters" field of the button bar/start menu (32/64)
20.04.22 Fixed: Open multi-rename tool a bit faster when there are many items in the rename, search and replace histories (64)
17.04.22 Fixed: MULTIRENAME configured_settings: Do not show warning if configured_settings don't exist, only when using = or == autostart options (32/64)

Sadly, for me, none of the comments rings the bell..

Thanks again,

Valentin

Thanks for your research. This was causing the problem:
Open multi-rename tool a bit faster when there are many items in the rename, search and replace histories
Reason: I set the control to "no refresh" while adding the old rename strings, then back to "refresh allowed" when done. I will have to manually refresh the control afterwards.
