Problem with branch-view mode deletion

Post by *lebans »

I use TC64-11 beta and RC1 without ini to test in Windows 10 Home x64
When I make a directory d:\temp\ with several branches with random files. If I activate branch-view with ctrl-B and I delete random some files I get, sometimes, a progress windows with text "seeking" after the files are deleted and stays there. Mostly it will work correct.
But this window will not go away with close-button, only if I use minimize-button. TC64 is then minimized and after restore view this windows is gone. When this window has appeared I can drag it aside and continue like normal. If I don't close that window there could be happen again with the same action (deletion of some files in branchview-mode). I had made 5 windows this way and continue working in TC64.
I hope you will understand my English writing, I'm dutch.

PS I can send you a step recording!
Greetings,
Rob

What kind of drive is your D: drive? does it also happen on other drives?

C: = SSD D: = HDD. I did just test on C: after several tries, same problem. Then I test it on USB-stick, no problem. External USB HDD same problem as C or D. USB-stick formatted FAT32 and others NTFS.

PS Single file deletion so far no problem!

Hmm, so basiclly with all type of drives.

I tested deleting some randomly selected files 4 or 5 times - how often would you say it happens for you in average. Does it happen if you in the same branch view delete some files and then some other files, or is it always immediately after opening branch view at the first delete.

Average is sometimes direct or like 1 in 10. And never(so far) if I delete just 1 file. I tested the same on Virtualbox (win10-x64/TC64-11rc1) with os-image on D:, I couldn't make it go wrong. One incident: I was deleting several files, but one file refused due write protection, there was no protection on that file. Second attempt on that file: No problem at all.
Just now I tested it with F8/Del disabled, direct deletion. No problem, but no option of course. Even so with explorer methode enabled, recycle bin working.

PS I select files randomly, these are sometimes from different directories or not.

I did a test with clean install 10.52 x64 no problem so far (many tries). I upgraded to 11.00 beta1 x64, same problem. Never with 1 file, only with multiple files.

I cannot reproduce that. Could you post a screenshot to the dialog box you get? You can make a screenshot of just the dialog box with Alt+PrintScreen.
You will have to put it on an image hoster and post the link here, or put it in Google Drive or OneDrive and share the image.

He said in the first post:

So I guess it's the dialog with this string:

Code: Select all

1153="Seeking..."

White is right:
Screenshot - **Link removed**

Edited: File now accessible via google-drive

I removed the link because the screenshot contains a full name and I don't know if you are aware of this.

You can post the link again if it was intentional.

Can you test it with 32-bit TC as well?
