Why it takes so high cpu usage?

Post by *lanmanck »

Hi ,guys.
I notice sometimes tc will take 20%+ cpu usage, even I restart it.
But sometimes it will not.
I try 8.0 9.0 10.0, it will happen randomly, donot know why.
I even re-install windows, it still happen sometimes.
Why?

When the TC load can rise significantly:
  1. Start reading (or copying) an inactive, slow, network or problematic drive.
  2. Displaying columns with data from content plugins and hints with them.
  3. Viewing files with Lister plugins (videos, books, etc.).
  4. Connecting an ftp resource.
  5. Counting the size of directories.
  6. Copy paste operations.
  7. Mass deletion of files.
  8. Drawing thumbnails.
  9. Search for files using content plugins.
  10. Opening system plugins that interact with drives, network and system services.
  11. Hanging when plugins or video filters (ffdshow) conflict.
  12. Connecting Everything via the search interface.
  13. The process of coloring the list using content plugins.
  14. Window conflicts when using scripts and utilities.
  15. Cyclic operations of plugins or scripts interacting with TC.
  16. The impact of antivirus on these and other events.

You may not think so, but I know this for sure from many years of experience. We are not talking about all situations without exception.

You can use the Microsoft tool "Process Monitor" to find out what is going on:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

After launching it, click on the funnel icon to set a filter, e.g.
Process Name - contains - totalcmd - then - include
Author of Total Commander
