Total Commander does NOT support unpacking with external 7zip. There is no checkbox for 7z in the unpack section. I will add a note to the help.

Then even more questions arise about why and how support for the 7z program is introduced at all!
It is only now clear that the creation of ALL types of archives that it understands is the lot of only third-party plug-ins,
and for Total only support for generating ZIP archives is taken from this tool. BUT then you need to be more strictly allowed
command line generation for using 7z and activation/blockade of options in settings related to this process, but tied to the
internal code of Total.

For example - IF 7Z is to be supported so differently, then the "Use internal ZIP packer" checkbox should work as a single choice radio button between its value and the value of "7z"! But at today we can put a checkmark here and there - so it turns out to be a nonsense!
The same applies to the checkbox below: "Always use internal unzipping" - it should be disabled as soon as the checkbox "7z" is selected above!
The same should also apply to the "Internal ZIP compression" group section - it in a whole should also be disabled when choosing the 7z option for processing ZIP archives!

And also - if we select the allowed .exe file (one of the two, as I understand it?) for the 7z tool, using the ">>" button, it should also be more than reasonable that the Total, after entering the path to the selected exe file, ITSELF displays an additional window/menu listing the ZIP options SUPPORTED by it within the 7z program, which could be additionally set to the command line to the exe file of this the selected 7z program.
By analogy with how ONLY ONE of the list of options is mentioned in passing in the help, variation "-mcu=on"...

It was added so people can use it to create zip archives with it. It's much faster when packing a lot of small files because it packs them in parallel. There is no advantage when packing only a few huge files.

But if support is introduced so pointwise and selectively for only one subtype of archives from the entire set supported by this tool, then Total - as I wrote above - should do much more in terms of supporting the intuitive implementation/using of this "stripped-down" version of the 7z tool.

It would indeed be nice to be able to use 7z for other file formats like RAR or ARJ. I will move this thread to the suggestions forum.
