Any free SVG plugin that works?

Post by *pakosan »

I tried SVGView and Imagine but both rendered incorrectly (files created with Inkscape).

I tried CAD view (it works) but it is a 30-trial.

Thank you, guys. Much appreciated.

It works fine here with the svg files I have available - could you provide an .svg file for us to test?

I do not see how to attach a file.

The contents of a sample svg are:

Here the image is shown as a green rectangle with the very top of the 3 letter PLE in white in IrfanView, XnView MP, Chrome, Edge, Opera and Firefox.

Here Imagine only shows the green rectangle, but it does not crash TC. tested with both 32bit and 64bit TC 11.01rc1 and Imagine 1.1.6 with SVG plugin 0.0.1

XnView Classic show the full text: SAMPLE in the green rectangle.

I do have the latest version of TC and Imagine.

Before I updated Imagine, I also saw a partial rendering.

Now, just a crash.

Could it be Inkscape's format?

I'm at a loss, frankly.

Thank you for your quick help though. Good karma to you.

I think the reason is that the image is larger than the page size and Imagine does not resolve the overflow well.

Perhaps the crash is related to that issue.

is larger than the page size and Imagine does not resolve the overflow well.
But neither does IrfanView, XnView MP, Chrome, Edge, Opera and Firefox.

I just noticed that there was an update of Imagine 1.1.6 from 2023-08-11, the version I had was from 2023-08-08.

I installed the new version, but I still do not get any crash with your test image.

Not working.

Darn.

Reinstalled everything but it still crashes while trying to render.

I'm giving up on this for now.

Thanks.

MS Power Toys has an SVG previewer.
Works fine here with the test file from above.
SVGView also has no problem with it.

Very strange, what you chosen/generated? for the example a file that clearly violates the principles of the visual frame/canvas within which you create your objects. As you can see from the screenshot - the area that all viewers will show - is limited by a white rectangle. Those all adequate viewers should show us only a very small part of the top right edge area of the embedded label. Here is that part:
https://ibb.co/nMmhyrN
But with such "garbage" - and I could not call this part of the overall picture otherwise - it is very difficult to check the work of _any_ viewers, because they will show only this "fragment of the whole". And the first impression will be that the program does not work correctly - because it shows something incomprehensible and somewhere down there ....

isn't it a better way - to move this topic into more corresponding sub-forum "Plugins and addons: devel.+support (English)"?

There should be an option "Show all" in other viewers. There was similar solution in Adobe Flash Player which was useful for some swf files.
