strange (?) file coloring in "show hidden files" mode

Post by *KozakMak »

in my config hidden files\folders colored as dark-blue:
https://ibb.co/94gBfYf

when I go to the subfolder - first line ".." becomes dark-blue too
https://ibb.co/ncxGQfr

shouldn't it be the same color as "Program Files" (white) ?

".." is an entry in the directory like a file or folder and can have its own attributes. Often it has the same hidden or system attribute as the directory it is in, but this doesn't seem to be the case for all directories. For example, my c:\ProgramData directory has the 'hidden' attribute, while c:\ProgramData\.. has hidden and system attributes.

You second screenshot https://ibb.co/ncxGQfr shows that the attributes for [..] is rh - so as ghisler write: "".." is an entry in the directory like a file or folder and can have its own attributes"

It's really strange - I 've checked all folders on C:\ where some attributes were applied - like H/S/R.
AND - in ALL cases - when I go in the folder X with attribs --hs for ex. its first entry '..' - shows exactly the same --hs.
So I even can't say that this problem/bug is reproducible either...

Ask petermad.

Execute cm_SwitchHidSys and the hs attributes will disappear/appear. And the timestamp changes too.

moder changed my post! why?
Sorry  - I hit the wrong button before starting writing my post - I have deleted what I wrote in your post again.

Here is my question:
What makes you think it is showing attributes from $RECYCLE.BIN - and not for another reason? You have other hs folders in the root. Is it because $RECYCLE.BIN is the first item, that you think so?

But try this - add $RECYCLE.BIN to you ignore list (temporarily), so $RECYCLE.BIN is not shown in TC, does that make a difference when you go into Sources of Program Files? Or change the sort order in the panels, so $RECYCLE.BIN is not the first item.
