Cursor position when you edit file name

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Cursor position when you edit file name

Post by *leonardog »

in Windows 11 x64 when you edit file name (shift F6) and use key cursor (left key) the cursor jump ad the first caracter in the selection.
this is annoying.
in Windows 7 x64 in the same condition the cursor is positioned on the last character of the selection.

It is not just in Windows 11, it is also in Windows 10 that the behavior is like that. I also prefer the way it works in Windows XP, 7 and 8.1

Workaround: press right arrow first.

I think it's more logical in Windows 10/11. Just press the right arrow key to jump to behind last selected character.

This is due to Microsoft changing something in Win10 1803 (or 1809). This change applies to ALL edit boxes, not just those in TC.

I strongly disagree. I always get annoyed by this behavior when I have to use Win10 1809 or newer. Moreover, Microsoft changed something fundamental after several decades so that muscle memory needs to be trained anew. This is bad design.
