Does Total Commander need a new design? Would you volunteer to improve their design?

Yes, it does and I would love to help out... I am good at designing...

What kind of design you are referring to?
Conceptual design?
Icon design?
Something else?

Well, if the question meant a redesign of TCs icons: Me raise hand for option 1. In my signature you'll find my actual collection wich is under slowly but permanent development.

There are many aspects of TC that are quite perfect, others need some improvement. I'd highly recommend new icons as the default ones look very outdated, though they're very clear and self-explainig, but the colors... ough. An icon competition was suggested some time ago, so I say, lets search contestants and run it.

I think an updated look and some slightly adjusted default options (e.g. font, colors) could increase TCs acceptance for first-time users significantly

BTW, I support Lefteous' unified command system if the question involved structural/conceptional redesign!

just my 2 cents.

Yeah... I mean icon design and, if possible, something like the design of Microsoft Office 2003 or Firefox (inner bevel, colors, etc.) Hope you understand ;)

A great icon for Total Commander can be found at http://arnaez.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SkinID=1499&LibID=39&comments=1
If you use the program ObjectDock or want a PNG icon for any reason, you can get it at http://arnaez.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SkinID=8111&LibID=29&comments=1
I would rate them as the best TC icons yet (but some of you might not like the unusual look of the icon)

Amazing icons! Thanks for the links!

Have you tried contacting the author to help us with more TC-related icons?

I think a good starting and the best redesign you can do for now is changing the icons. An example of a good change of the icons in another smart utility is Ultraedit Text Editor in version 11.
