Symbolic link (Samba mounted partition)

Post by *gbo »

Hello everyone,

I use Samba to mount linux partition on TC and I'm looking for a way to distinguish between symbolic links and folders.

E.g. in Mindnight Commander (a linux file manager like Norton) this is how we can distinguish
/pdf -> folder
~pdf -> symbolic link (ln -s) which point to /apache/htdocs/pdf by example

In TC both will be displayed as folder without distinction futhermore if I copy the symbolic link with TC it will copy the content of the folder instead of 'copying' the symbolic link.

Is it possible? all suggestions are welcomed? plugins?

TIA

PS I already search the forum with 'symbolic', 'lnk' ... keywords but didn't find what I'm looking for

Maybe that helps.

Thanks Sheepdog but I had already read this thread and it didn't help. I am still unable to distinguish between folders and symbolic links in samba mounted partitions in TC.

Sorry, you can't hide links, but you can recognize them by the 'L' shown in the attributes column.

I played with custom column view and tried all the attributes fields without success he was perhaps referring to ftp so if someone know please let me know.

Sorry, this was referring to FTP - Samba gives no indication whether a file is a link.
