Search - improvement suggestions

Post by *Maxwish »

Hi, here are some improvement suggestions for Search (find files)

[1] Search archives:
The choice of searching in different types of archives could be expanded a bit. For example:

Code: Select all

[] Search archives (all except UC2 and packer plugins)
[] also Search archives using packer plugins
Reason:
With the current single option for searching archives, I often have speed loss and errors due to all archives associated with packer plugins also being searched. It would be nice if I could choose between "default" archives (ZIP, RAR, TAR, ACE etc) and Packer Plugins (HA, Multiarc, and some other plugins that support text find)

[2] Search results:
Could there be a way to save the list of search results after seraching in archives?
reason:
Normaly after searching, the option "feed to listbox" is active and the results can be stored by using the Diskdir plugin (in a .lst file) with the listbox result. But after searching in archives, the "feed to listbox" is not active and there is no way to save the results.

[1] I support this!
[2] You can press Ctrl+C in Find Files window, then paste it where you want. Though this not always helps... :(

Thanks Valentino, the CTRL-C tip works! You're turning into a real TC Guru! 8)
I didn't think it would because nornally you have to highlight and select some text before you copy. But TC does that for me I guess.

That only leaves my first suggestion [1]

Wow... It's hard to believe but it works... :-)
That's why I love TC - there is still something to discover in it.

Valentino,
Where do we know that from? I have found it neither in Help nor in History.txt...

TIA

Well, I think it's a good idea too, but I rather want it to be implemented like INI parameter, opposite to "SearchInFiles", for example "DoNotSearchInFiles" with extensions enumeration - IMHO it would be more flexible this way.[/face]

Is there a reason for that?! ;)

Cheers, @_someone_ is a kind of shortcut to: I'm referring the following text to _someone_ (as if you didn't know). I know my priorities are screwed up, lagging on my studies etc etc Is it spring!@!!! Damn, almost missed it, thanks.

No, I didn't :D. To _someone_? So how "@" related with "to"? May be "2BD", Jack? ;)

I didn't meant that :).

J> Damn, almost missed it, thanks.

Be my guest :D.

P.S. Missed me, Jack? ;) Great avatar, BTW.[/face]

I can only guess it was taken from email syntax... though how it became @someone instead of someone@ I have no idea; but using @name seams appropriate (to me)
I didn't meant that
I know you didn't, so how's the wench (kidding)

Yeah, a stroke of genius! To those who didn't know it's the caterpillar from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland".
