on the the other hand, it's logical too : since you can open directories via one click, you can't mark a directory with the mouse
Good point - I withdraw. It is not a bug
You can mark files: as usual with right click while the left click opens the directory.
You loose only the functionality to rename a file/folder by twice singleclicking it.

“Left” the most…

:) Hi Stefan !

- Of course, I meant : with the left button set to select the items…
- I never use the right-button for the selection, it's annoying for me 'cause I use the local menu a lot, and don't want to wait for the long-click delay…

Hi Claude,

I misunderstood. I thought you referred to the 'mark as selected' while you apparently meant what I use to describe as 'put the cursor on the file'.

So far you are right, an it's probably no bug but as petermad so true pointed:

It's a very good reason not to use SingleClickStart=1.

good evening

Author's explanation---

Post by *Clo »

:) Hi Stefan !
Confirmed. In the edit field the cm_return does not act like enter. Neither with nor without singleclickstart set.
• Today, ghisler(Author) has answered on the French forum :
“ It's because cm_Return sends ENTER to TC, and not to the rename-editor. ” No more… I suppose that the Rename-editor belongs to Windows ?
- I fear that this couln't be improved, I asked for a confirmation…

Good evening Claude.

No, the rename editor does not belong to windows. But it's an own subroutine like FTP, Search window, Multi Rename Tool.

And the internal commands are always send to the Main Programm.

So if you are renaming with [shift]+[F6] it looks like you were in the main window but actually it is like you were in a dialog-box. ANd this dilog box could not react to a cm_anything command.

Probably you could send the 'enter' with a autohotkey script, but you are right that this could not (easily) be solved by Christian.

:) Good evening Stefan,

- Anyway, this lacuna is annoying, in example : if your keyboard has a problem suddently, you can't achieve the rename operation…
- I'll write a note in the Tutorials, that shall prevent useless complaints :P

I don't know if you're all overthinking this issue, but I've had it for a while due to using Singleclickstart. All that's happening is that when the mouse is moved (and with certain mice getting it to not drift a pixel or two after opening the inline rename is very hard) it automatically selects a file field in TC and takes focus away from the rename box. Surely that can be worked around somehow?

If I invoke the inplace rename (with [shift][F6]) the mouse does not affect the cursor on the file window any more until the dilaog is closed.
