The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Sorry, this cannot be fixed. The dialog boxes are resized depending on the font size and DPI, which will always lead to rounding errors (e.g. the width of an element getting rounded up, and the position of the next getting rounded down).
