[TC 11.57] Help - SHIFT+F4: New text file - "Notepad.exe" instead of editor

Post by *white »

German help:
Umsch+F4: Neue Textdatei

...
Falls Sie mehrere Dateien gleichzeitig anlegen (mit der neuen Funktion "<1-10>[C]"), wird der Editor nicht gestartet.

English help:
SHIFT+F4: New text file

...
If you create multiple files at once (with the new "<1-10>[C]" feature), Notepad.exe will not be launched.
Notepad.exe -> the editor

It does not matter. In German, notepad.exe is named "Editor".

Please note the inconsistency and inaccuracy in the English help.

Top of the help page:
After pressing Shift+F4, you will be asked for the name of the new text file. Then this new file will be created, and the editor you selected in the configuration dialog will be opened with it, unless the editor was explicitly set to none. As a default, the Windows editor notepad will start.
The German page at the beginning likewise names "notepad" as the default ("Standard ist der Windows-Editor notepad") and elsewhere uses "der Editor" (the editor), i.e. a generic/configurable editor.

The English text says "Notepad.exe will not be launched." That contradicts the paragraph above and is misleading because Total Commander opens the configured editor (Notepad only by default).

I want to remove all the help file related posts from the bug reports forum. Therefore please check whether this has been fixed in the following pre-release help file:

Tested OK using tcmde1157b_chm.zip

I am assuming you will release a new TC version and not only a new help file. Will something be added to the page "What's new in this version?" for the new page?
