switch into the folder that contains your Buttonbar
make sure the bar file is displayed in the file window
Open the 'change Buttonbar dialog' either by Configuration->Change Buttonbar or by rightclicking to the right of the rightmost button in the bar and choosing 'change'
Close the dialog with OK
repeat from [3] a few times for the better visibility
In the file window now are displayed a bunch of files with the same name.
Here it were one time the *.bar-files another time the the *. br1 -files and a third time both bar and br1 . Don't know what it depends on (although it's been different bar-files).
A reread of the source or an unfocus and refocus the window refreshes the file window properly.

Cannot reproduce. I tried both with the default buttonbar and with a newly created one (with one additional button on it), in both cases I see only one BAR and one BR1 file.

Hi Flint, could you please create a new ini files with only the 'watchdirs=3' entry (possibly saved as test.ini) and try again with this ini (totalcmd.exe /i=test.ini).
I have just tested here with my 'fresh' TC I always have ready for such purposes and I can reproduce it this way.
Ah I forgot: I use XP SP2, maybe you have another OS.

I can NOT confirm this. Win XP Home SP2, TC 6.53, WatchDirs=3
But I see a short flicker in the filelist immediately after the "Change button bar" dialog box is closed with "OK". And the time stamp of the .bar file is changed - even though no changes has been made.
EDIT CPU = Pentium P4 530/3.0 S775 800/1MB

Maybe it's hardware related, i've tested it on an Athlon Xp with no problem at all, but on an Athlon 64 bug appears (same OS & TC on both Pc).

My system is based on A64, and there is no bug. I don't think that the hardware itself is the reason, other software installed is more probable. But maybe, drivers... or some patches from WindowsUpdate... I have a complete set of them.

I had this bug once with an early beta during a download, but couldn't reproduce it since then.
How many processors are shown in the task manager? There are some processors which work like two processors (sorry, I currently don't remember the name of this). This works like a multi-processor system.

This is called Hyper-Threading and is implemented on Intel processors only. AMD Athlon XP and Athlon 64 do not have such a feature. Only Athlon 64 X2 have two processor kernels, but they are real two kernels, not virtual ones (in Hyper-Threading there is only one real processor kernel).
