marking

Post by *majkinetor »

OK, this is something I found useful, so I would like to share it here, if I may.

The procedure is to mark some folders and to leave some others unmarked. I was using it for my FULL ALBUMS folder in which some albums where backuped and others still not because they arrived after backup.

* Select every folder you would like to mark and do multirename tool
* Rename to [N]_ where _ is ALT+0160 symbol (pseudospace)

This will make space before ending ] so marked folders will be easily seen.
Example:

[A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step ]
[Amon Tobin ]
[Anders Ilar]
[Baraka Soundtrack]
[Medeski Martin & Wood - Tonic ]
[Vladislav Delay - Multila ]
[Twerk - Humantics]

* Lets say U want to find latest folders, those without pseudospace. DO this search (RegExp enabled):
.+[^_]$ Attribute: dir

This was procedure before content plugins were available in which you can do file grouping.
I am still using it, because those plugins are very slow on my machine.

this was inspired by "Show icons in menus" topic

You also could use the "Archive" file attribute. Thats exactly its purpose ie to mark files/folders that have to be included in the next backup.

You can sort by it with a custom column [tc.archive]

Its not the same. Different visuals. That's because I work in brief view all the time. Also, I invented this before content plugins

@sans
then open your soulseek and find me there:

computer music.... ahhh...

Choice1: Yagya - The rythm of snow
samplings of snow winds... very distant rhythm... perfect

Choice2: Brothomstates - Kobn-Tich-Eu
state of the art, made in Finlad, by 18 years old Nikko Lasi, nowdays Warp artist
               freeware
