suggestion for the menu bar

Post by *MPS »

i would like to change the total cmd's top menu bar, so it allows some sorts of groups of applications - so that my apps dont take 3 rows worth of menu bar... i'd like to be able to click an icon of a group of apps (ie. ms office icon) and then i get a pop up menu (a mini menu) with, say, an array of 3x3 icons (ie. word, excel, powerpoint etc.)... or another group, say, 'internet browsers' and then when i click it, i get a pop up with msie, opera, firefox etc... or a group like 'multimedia players' with a popup containing for example winamp, mplayer, mp3proplayer etc.
right now all i can do is to group those programs using separate bars or simply using separators.

Are you sure you are not talking about the BUTTON bar and not the menu bar??

If that is the case then look here: http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=70557#70557

This is nice tool, I use it, but it is so sloooow.
Internal solution supporting nothing more than what TCmenu supports now would be better and presumably faster.

TCMenu is the answer! :)
Thank you for that.
It is not slow at all, as some people claim.

Hi MPS!
Once I have created a nice "system.bar" for TCMenu, a picture is shown here, this thread is in german but the code should work for you.
Some more functional paths for TCMenu, ShortPopup and MenuApp in another german thread.

Hi Stitscher!
Yes, he did! In this case the Total Commander Wiki is one step further :)
Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC:
MenuApp De+En

MenuApp doesn't close itself!

I started it several times to see what it is like and it was always there after several days, hanging out in my system... so, I deleted it. On the other hand, MonitorApp from the same developer is cool app, small and light, and I find it usefull.

In the help it states that it leavs "server" running so to cut down load time.

MPS
really cool 8)
Total Commander should be able to create menus like this by its own!

[Request]
First I have two blank spaces side by side in my Buttonbar and save this.
Then I drag an existing *.bar right between this two seperators:
A dropdown menu of my *.bar -file is shown!

Kind regards

majkinetor !

please find: "MenuApp.ini" in your system.
MenuApps native Shortkey to open it with notepad is:
[CTRL]+[ALT]+[A]
"AutoStart=No"
"EnableServer=No"
MenuApps standard Shortkey to save settings is:
[CTRL]+[ALT]+[Z]
Redefine this shortkeys in the menuApp.ini, if you want to do so.
&write that stuff into the Wiki :)

Try to use "Babelfish" and translate the german MenuApp-Page
&write that stuff into...

Kind regards
Stance
