--Stance 09:27, 16 May 2005 (EST) External links should be marked like: (Homepage). For example the link in the Wiki "MetaPad" should lead to the missing page:[http://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Metapad Metapad]. A short description of the program, maybe a link to a screenshot, is it freeware or has it special features for Total Commander. Here could be a external link to the Metapad homepage. Very important to show the difference between internal editors (plugins, but also standalone, like WLX\Synplus) and "normal" Editors. What do you think?

External links are easily to spot anyway due to the arrow attached. This is a redundant information.

I agree on giving the info if it is freeware, shareware, etc..., a better structure can be needed if more editors are added, but I disagree on the rest.
I prefer to find all recommended external editors listed on one single page with short abstracts only to get a quick overview and to see if this editor fits my needs. If I need to inform extensively or need screenshots I would visit the official program homepage anyway.
I see that you have copied&pasted text from the offical editor homepages. It will not only be outdated information as soon as the official homepage gets updated, bad for keeping this Wiki up-to-date, but it is also boring for the reader, who will read the same text twice after visiting the official homepage. Added to that it is sometimes a bad idea due to copyright issues. Some authors may like to read their text on other homepages and even give people some text fragments they can use freely but some may not and strictly disagree. Quoting is ok, no problem, but copy&pasting is not!
I suggest to revert the changes and just wait if the future shows that separate pages per editor or other 3rd-party app is really needed. Anyway, if you do separate pages use your own text to explain the use of the editor.

You have set the internal links to "your" new separate editor pages wrong, now they look like external links which is bad. Use this syntax: [[metapad]]

You are as allmost everytime right, I know about outdating and copyrights. About "copy&pasting": English is not my native language, I am german. I have had a long time no practice in english, so it is hard work for me. But I tried in the english Wiki what I might can do. My thought was to have a editable structure for TC users in here, anyone can change it. I don´t like the "slang" of the metapad page either. Please take my writings in "Editors Ideas and suggestions" as what it is: Only my suggestion! They should get a hit on the page "Editors" but I don´t know how and where. I don´t want the "Editors" page to become a download link area. I want users to post what their editor can do in Total Commander. Former a this-time splitting into Freeware/shareware? I don´t know anything about: UltraEdit. I hope nobody will link to adware.Thank You, kind regards.
