Wrong symbol icons left to the file names
After I have installed ACDSee 7.0, TotalCommander shows wrong symbol icons (associated to other progs.) left to the associated file names. Windows explorer shows the right icons and the file associations to the programs are OK. Some icons are OK in TCMD too, but for example .pdf icon and many other are wrong. Could someone help to solve this problem?

Welcome on board.
Just a look at : Configuration >>> Options >>> Display >>> Show symbols to the left of the filename.
Try to select "All associated +....."

Put the cursor on the file with wrong displayed icon, press [Alt]+[f]iles then [A]ssociate with.
Then press button: 'Edit type' and then change icon.
The problem is that Explorer looks at a different place which icon to display for a certain filetype. TC is taking the official M$ place to get the icon from. Thus you get different Icons.
Contrary you may choose the icon displayed by TC even for Explorer by openening Explorer->Extra->Folder Options-> File types. (this may not be the correct naming because it's only a translation of the german Windows).

Almost correct. - it is: Explorer->Tools->Folder Options-> File Types in English WinXP.Explorer->Extra->Folder Options-> File types
And: Stifinder->Funktioner->Mappeindstillinger->Filtyper in Danish - if anyone should be interested, or polip should be from Denmark??

Thank You for your help! I have tried everything, what you wrote, but I still have the problem. My file and icon associaions are correct. If I press [Alt]+[f]iles then [A]ssociate with and press the 'Edit type' button, TC always shows the correct (associated) icon, but in the panels before the file names not. :(
Old issue---

- This reminds me that I had a similar problem years ago for ACDSEE (16-bit on this time…), and the icons of the file-lists…
I guess that TC is not quite faulty…
- Try to use various icons from any folder, as *.ico or in some ICLs, but not the icons enbedded in the ACDSEE EXE(s)… Sometimes, this helps. You can get icons to test that here, there are too icons as 21*21 for the most usual image-types in the (big) pack you can find under “My goodies”… Just set that size to test in Options >> Fonts >> Icon size (type 21x21 in the field)

Not to mention the obvious solution: switch to XnView

I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

I think that the solution is to put the cursor an an .ico file, then choose files - associate - edit type, and then set the icon to

I have already solved the problem :D . I disassociated the .ico file type with the ACDSee in ACDSee.exe (Tools->File associations->) and voi-la, TC began to show the icons correctly. I didn't check all icons yet, but the mostly used are OK. After that I associated .ico with ACDSee trough the Windos Explorer. Now everything seems to be OK.
