Shift+Enter doesn't work with long file names

Post by *Blight »

Pressing Shift+Enter to run a console program without closing the console window when it exits doesn't work if the program has a long file name.

This has been like this forever, but I always forgot to mention, any chance there is a work-around or a planned fix?

Works fine for me (under Win98SE).

Are you sure you have the file NOCLOSE.PIF in your Windows/Winnt directory ? - otherwise it won't work. If you DO have the noclose.pif, make sure that the setting in the pif-file for closing the window (under "Program") is still UNchecked.

@Blight:
Edit noclose.pif, enter %comspec% or cmd.exe as command interpreter.

Thanks, it seems that my noclose.pif file was from 2001, isn't this file updated in the installation of newer versions?

noclose.pif is treated like the ini files. So if you do update installations or if you don't fully uninstall TC it will stay intact.

The files haven't been updated. It doesn't matter at all if you do a clean installation or not or if you are installing TC under 9x or NT.
The command line is always command.com... *sigh*

There are already enough threads about changing shift-enter behaviour and dropping that crappy noclose.pif but regarding the fact that Windows 2000 (not to mention NT4 of course) is several years out and the matter still isn't solved ghisler seems not to be interested too much in changing it:
