Merge buttonbar files

Post by *DarkRuleR »

Hi,

I have a buttonbar file (custom.bar) with custom made buttons and want to include the buttons into the default.bar.

Of course I can edit the default.bar file manually and copy/paste the content from my custom.bar file.

But I was wandering if there is a way to include one .bar file into another?

Thanx!!!

DR...

Ps. I know you can add a subbar as a button but I want my buttons in the default buttonbar.

Hi DarkRuleR,

just open two instances of Total Commander:
First with your custom.bar, the second with the default.bar.
Use the "contextmenu: Copy" for every single button (from custom.bar)
and "paste" every single button into your default.bar.

Thanx for the tips dudes!!!

But it would be great if there is a option in the .bar file with for example:

IncludeBar=<path><bar file name>

DarkRuleR
This feature would be useless for me.
I like to switch from one buttonbar to another.

By the way: The "default.bar" will be overwritten at the next update, when you not set the attribute "write protected"! Better to use a different name for a customised bar.

But I can suggest one action for your request:
Whenever a BAR-File is dragged into the buttonbar, a contextmenu could be shown, asking to: "append".

I would like to see "Dropdownmenu" for BAR-Files in there too !

Kind regards

This would work great for me!

I install every update fresh with a new default.bar and then add my buttons.
This way I have my buttons added very quick!

Hi, Stance,

using a different buttonbar than default is on the safe side, I admit. But if you were right about T.C. updates overwriting the default.bar, how comes mine does not get overwritten? :?

The default main menu gets overwritten by each update, but the button bar is kept, even if it is named default.bar and even if is not write-protected.

If you look inside any TC distribution file, you will see that 3 files (currently) has the timestamp of 00:00 - these are the files (default.bar, no.bar and wcmzip32.dll) that wil not overwrite any existing files during installation.

That's a bug :P. It must be overwritten like each of my customized MNU-files.:roll:
Seriously, I don't know + dont wan't to find out. I leave the "default.bar" alone and use my _renamed_ bars.

The TCWiki Backup page isn't so clear about the facts which petermad have had reported to us. Especially about a modified wcmzip32.dll !

TC7 will come with a better and more complete buttonbar (...default.br2). How will the TC7-Setup handle this?
I guess that a dialog appears, whether the (customised) default.bar should be kept or overwritten?

@Topic
DarkRuleRs idea to merge the old and the new "default.bar" together could be an option in the setup for users with a single standard buttonbar.
Any thoughts on that? New command? New actions for contextmenu?
