{Minor} Rename changing the case is buggy

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

{Minor} Rename changing the case is buggy

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !

• I have a directory named Rc1.
- I try to rename it via the local menu as RC1 >> Enter… and it stays Rc1.

- Same operation in 6.56 : It works perfectly !

- I've the same settings for Display in both versions…

• Did I miss someting ?

Hello Claude!
This is happening because cm_Switch83Names is on, at least in my case. The directory is actually renamed but the display doesn't show it.
TC for Linux please!

:) Hello !

• Yes, but it's ticked in 6.56 too, and the wished case is displayed !

• Odd…

Is this a local file / directory?

I have the same problem (with v6.53 also) on Samba4-shares, maybe this is related? I've never seen it happen on local partitions, though.

I just tried with your dir name - here it behaves exactly the same in TC7pb3 and TC6.56 with or without cm_Switch83Names enabled on Fat32 and on NTFS partitions.

If cm_Switch83Names is enabled "Rc1" and "RC1" are both displayed as "Rc1" - whereas "rC1" and "rc1" are displayed as "rc1". When cm_Switch83Names is disabled everything is displayed as written.
