Shortcuts proposal
After a long period of times, some asks became reality.
I think many TC users are very lucky and so happy because shortcuts or hot keys exist in TC and are customizable. Keyboard is more productive because it stay in the same place and mouse must be located first, after that must be driven carefully to the fix point. I prefer a reduced action, how much is possible, to change focus from mouse to keyboard or inverse.
I saw in forum search how F2 became a complementary rename filename inline, how it was add other shortcuts and so on. History...
Now, it's a good opportunity to add inside TC 7(beta), some other usual shortcuts and remove the obsolete, in order to became a non-beta version. I mean, spring time clean up!
Bellow you will see what already exist default in TC and a list of proposal new hot keys, able to be inserted into TC:
http://www.cjbihor.ro/tc/ShortcutsTC7.txt
Also, I'm surprised about SHIFT+F4 witch is unknown or undocumented function, but everybody still use it. Many shortcuts are not mine, are folkloric in TC community, but must be a little standard in every languages and with any wincmd.ini, by force of habit.
The last part is from wincmd.ini file, shortcuts section. It can be replaced very easy, in copy-paste-land. Only for lazy people.
Many thanks to TS4242, author of Ultra TC Editor.
Best wishes,

Nice. Generally I'm for. But some things I'd change:
Isn't F9 too good key for cm_LanguageConfig?
Why do you want to add Alt to Ctrl+Q and Ctrl to Alt+F5?
Removing hotkeys: I'm against. I'm for changing F2, Ctrl+P also sounds nice. These are Windows' standards, all other changes you propose are not. Some people are used to them, change would be painful - and I see only one person that would benefit from it ;->
(OT)
In the file --- in "Proposed Hotkey" means "no proposal-leave a it is if there are no conflicts" and "no hotkey" in "Default Hotkey". It's confusing.

What is your propose?m^2 wrote:Nice. Generally I'm for. But some things I'd change:

It's my change. I accept, it's my own and I keep in wincmd.ini for my reason. But I agree your point of view. Why do you want to add Alt to Ctrl+Q and Ctrl to Alt+F5?
Ok! I agree, both.Removing hotkeys: I'm against.

It's a open topic. Default hotkey are shortcuts inside TC. If you remove "Shortcuts" section in wincmd.ini, those hotkeys still remain active as default hotkey even them are not shown or not in main menu. Sure, thanks to Ghisler, you can change them from configuration menu.In the file --- in "Proposed Hotkey" means "no proposal-leave a it is if there are no conflicts" and "no hotkey" in "Default Hotkey". It's confusing.
If somebody have a different opinion, please let as know, but with arguments, pro or on the contrary. Also please, if you don't agree one or many shortcuts, give others or suggest removal from the list. Punctually!
At the end of this topic we will see about average of hotkeys usage, how often or maybe yet a bad solution.
I think, we can together improve this field. Don't you? Of course, with kindness of Mr. Ghisler team.
Nothing is in clue!
Be not against without something to say.
Thank you in advance for any contribution to this topic.

I'd give it for cm_CompareFilesByContent, but 80% of internal commands would fit well there.
Someone else?

Usually, hotkeys have priority high. That's good.petermad wrote:2eugensyl

On the other hand It's possible to activate first QuickSearch Window (with a hotkey) and start locate. In second case no mater hotkeys. You are focused on locate action.
Thanks

Not in this case for me - I would very must resist having my Alt+Letter search spoiled by having higher priority Alt+letter hotkeys forced down my throat.Usually, hotkeys have priority high. That's good.

After a small period I decided:
First: - I want to use Alt-letter for quick search
2nd: - I want to release all default keys of TC to their aim.
Only F2 and Ctrl-P are replaced.
After that I try a lot of combination.
This is my [Shortcuts] section:

Well, you still have several free combinations - how about CS+P=cm_PrintFile for example

1. F9, F10 and Ctrl-P release to their function
2. F12=cm_LanguageConfig (old F9)
3. F11=cm_CopyNamesToClip (old F10)
4. S+F11=cm_LoadSelectionFromClip (old F12)
5. CA+E=cm_SwitchOverlayIcons (old CA+P)
6. CA+F11=cm_CopyFullNamesToClip (old F11)
7. CS+P=cm_PrintFile (old C+P)
8. CAS+F12=cm_Config (old CAS+F9)
CA+P is unassigned to eliminate the possible confusions.
Only Ctrl+Shift+P is used for print.
It's quite good.
What you say?
