alt+F7 search for files with .

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

alt+F7 search for files with .

Post by *WhACKO »

TC is unable to find files with a dot (.) in them:

P.B.E..mp3
P.B.E. (Vocal Remix).mp3
P.B.E. Remix.mp3

in the search field type p.b.e. or p.b. TC doesn't find anything only typing the full filename with extension (e.g. P.B.E..mp3) shows up in the results.

This is not a bug.

See TC Help:
Find files: General
Search for:
...
When the search string contains a dot, Total Commander will look for the exact name match.

Just use regex
In the search field: P\.B\.E
[x] RegEx

Voilà.

My bad, didn't know that was a feature, not a bug :P
I've gotten so used to search without a wild card I forgot to try enclosing the term with *

Thank you for the tip!
