Filter and Confirm Overwrite

To reproduce:

1. Two different folders, say Test1 and Test2
2. Test1 open in left pane, Test2 open in right pane
3. Inside Test1, there is a file - say testfile.txt
4. Inside Test2, there is a file with the same name (testfile.txt)
5. Move file from left pane to right pane
6. TC prompts you if you want to overwrite the file
7. The above is the correct behaviour
8. Now, Ctrl+S in the right pane, type *test* to filter out every other file (the idea being that only testfile.txt is shown)
9. Now move the file from left pane to right pane
10. TC does not confirm the overwrite - it just overwrites the file in the right pane with the file from the left pane
11. The above is not the correct behaviour

Filenames do not matter, as long as they are the same in each folder. It does not matter what the folder names are. It does not matter if each folder has one file in it, or one million. All that is important is that the two filenames are the same, and one pane in TC has the CTRL+S filter set. If so, then TC will ignore the 'prompt on overwrite' setting.

I can 100% reproduce it on my PC. For what it is worth, I'm using Win 7 64bit. What I described is the exact way to reproduce it on my end - two files the same name in different folders, one folder has CTRL+S set to show only that file, and then moving the file from the other folder to that folder with CTRL+S set will not produce the 'do you want to overwrite' dialog. It just overwrites the file without prompting.

Please try to reproduce it with clear INI.
So, you need to start TC with command line parameter /i="path_to_new_INI"

Sorry, that makes no sense - TC doesn't use the list of displayed files t check whether a file already exists in the target or not.

Sense or not - no overwrite dialog is produced on my PC when CTRL+S is enabled in the target pane.

Since the rest of us can't reproduce the error, we need more information - obviously specific conditions are required for the bug to show up.

The first thing you could do is to start TC with a clean ini file as suggested by MVV 3 postings above.

If you still have the bug, we can rule out that any particular setting of TC is necessary - and the problem is likely to be caused by something in your system.

On the other hand, if you don't have the bug with a clean ini file, then we can begin to figure out what setting is responsible for the bug.

We also need to know whether you use the keyboard (F6) or the mouse (Shift+drag) to move the file between the panels.
