TotalCmd.CHM, Ctrl+F (Find) & F1 or [Help]
Win2K, TC7.56a
1. Open TC Help file (.chm)
2. Ctrl+F (to find text on current help page)
3. Go back to TC.
4. Press F1 OR [HELP] button on any of TC's dialogs that have one.
5. Crash.
Looks like TC Needs to check for existance of the Find Dialog and confirm the TC Help.chm is the parent --- and dismiss it. Or even better, open a new Instance of the Help file if the find dialog exists and is the child of the last TC Help.chm window.

I cannot confirm this either (Windows XP and Windows 7 x64)
I get the same as HolgerK except that the Ctrl+F dialog is not closed here - it stays open.

Have you tried to reproduce the bug with all your AHK scripts disabled? - just a thought.

Try this one:
1. Open TC Help file (.chm)
2. Ctrl+F (to find text on current help page)
3. Go back to TC.
4. Press F5 - to open Copy Dialog
4. Press F1
5. Crash.

- no crash
- Crtl+F dialog closed automatically.
- "TOTALCMD.CHM::/menu_fileoperations.htm" is displayed
Maybe a different behavior of the used hhctrl.ocx
Code: Select all
C:\Windows\System32\hhctrl.ocx 2008-01-21 04:22 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)

When you write "Open TC Help file (.chm)" - I read it as you open the totalcmd.chm file by doublecliking or pressing Enter on it in the file panel - is that correct? - That means that you are actually trying to open two Help files - one by doubleclicking, and one by pressing F1/Help button.
2HolgerK
"- TC: Help-> Index" - sounds like you are opening the Help file from the menu - is that correct? - In that case I can confirm that the Ctrl+F box is closed, when I later press F1 in TC.
In neither of the two situations I get a crash - and I don't think the hhctrl.ocx matters - I have testetd with two different OS's.

Yes."- TC: Help-> Index" - sounds like you are opening the Help file from the menu - is that correct?
If i open the Totalcmd.chm from the file panel and press later <F1> from a modal TC dialog, a second help window opens.
But there are chances that the hhctrl.ocx version on Win2k is older than the version used on WinXP/Vista/Windows7.and I don't think the hhctrl.ocx matters - I have testetd with two different OS's.

Maybe it is a different short-cut for German Windows - just like searching in older Internet Explorers (pre v. 7) used Ctrl+B in stead of Ctrl+F in Danish Windows.
Try Ctrl+S or Ctrl+B
