[TC 7, 8] Ctrl+Q mode ignores lister plugins on zip archives
Ctrl+Q mode ignores lister plugins on zip archives when they contain any text file (txt, cfg, ini... - any text file) or sound file (ogg...).
But everything works good in normal F3 mode.
This bug has to be fixed.
p.s.
If this one is a some kind of feature - it is very very unwanted feature to be enabled by default! It must be switchable and disabled on default settings.

Hello, MaxX.
Is this true for ZIP-files only or for any archives like for e.g. .7Z, too?
Reason for asking:
At least here it works fine when navigating through a .7Z archive and viewing the file contents in the opposite panel by pressing Ctr-Q on any file in the archive.
Lister plugins (Imagine) will be used on .ICO e.g. (Sorry, this is the only image file inside this .7Z archive.)
<Added>
Well, just tried it on a ZIP archive holding pure text files and .PNG files. Same result as for the .7z archive. Viewing the files inside the archive with the help of Ctrl-q will load Imagine if required.
</Added>
Kind regards,
Karl

I have TC 8.01 RC5 x64 and Imagine + Syn2 as Lister Plugin.
This works fine for Ctrl-Q inside of an archive.
Tested with zip and 7zip archives.
I have this bug appear on ant TC 7.x and 8.x and no matter if there are any plugins installed.
On clear TC you will also get the file's contend instead of just binary data. I mean, that if you pack .txt file inside .zip and press Clrl+Q on it - you'll get .txt's content on opposite panel, but not raw .zip's data ("PK" header and other bytes).
Same trouble is also reproducable with .ogg files inside .zip.
And, don't forget, all the actions you can see with CLEAR TC without any plugin needed.
And the problem is that TC don't even dive the chance for plugins to work properly when Ctrl+Q on zip's.

I can't remember clearly, but in older versions 6.xx there was NO such bug.Is that intentional?
That's the quesion for Ghisler. If so, how does it work?

Hello, Umbra.
Could not locate the entry in the current history file when this feature was added. Yet, could spot an entry telling it was fixed which in turn suggests it is meant to do what it does
I.E. The programme author will know.

To the best of my knowledge, it is.umbra wrote:If you enable QuickView and set cursor on a zip file containing a *.txt file, the QuickView will really show contents of the nested text file, instead of a raw binary data of the selected zip.
Is that intentional?

history.txt 8.01 rc5 wrote:05.12.08 Fixed: Ctrl+Q on archives didn't show descript.ion/readme.txt etc, just a '?'
I will not reveal any source code internals, in particular not those that I have no knowledge of.If so, how does it work?

Thanks to MVV.New in Version 3.02 (14.4.1997):
- CTRL+Q on archive shows contained file_id.diz, readme*, or *.txt (in this order)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Hi, umbra.
Sorry, I was just trying to crack a joke (remark about the source code which I do not know of course). - Did not work. Nobody's laughing. So, kindly ignore it, please.
Wow, it was added in April 1997 in v3.02. Round about 1 year before I received by genuine blue diskette holding v3.52.

Strange, that there's no Ghisler's answer all the time...
But: displaying ogg's content (same way as txt's) - is a real BUG.
If showing txt's is a feature, it must be switchable and be disabled by default!
Now TC's behavior with Ctrl+Q on zip's is very annoying, useless and only makes troubles when viewing archives' properties.

There was nothing to say because everything was already said: Yes, this is intentional.
