File search doesnt work with backslash

Post by *jkunze »

When I use file search with a text string to be searched for like 'text1\text2' the files with this text are not found - I have to change the search text to 'text1\\text2'
In older versions of TC the search is sometimes successful - but then the case sensitive flag doesnt work properly.

I think the search text should be searched as entered within the files - regardless if any special (escape) characters like '\' are contained within the search string or not.

Escape characters support in find text field is not a bug but a feature, so it requires suggestion and not bug report in order to add an option (which has been discussed many times but still as is though).

From TC's Help:
Find text
If this option is checked, you can enter text to be searched. With \t you find tabstops, and with \n line breaks (ENTER) in texts. To find a backslash \, you need to give it twice: \\ .
Notice that find \text2 will mean find tabstop + ext2
