Make auto view mode config page sub-dialog of view-mode page
Please make the auto view mode config page a sub-dialog of the view-mode page. Why?
1) An auto-view mode change only makes sense when there are view-modes to assign.
2) I don't see why two pages are needed for one topic.
3) It's still easy to find - or maybe even easier.
4) The rules to define when exactly a view-mode should be changed requires a lot of width. Even the path for the very basic rules don't fit. The dialog must be resizable.

Support but this good idea is not completely implemented.Lefteous wrote:Please make the auto view mode config page a sub-dialog of the view-mode ....
I do not see any RightClick menu entry to chose view-mode from column menu.
The auto switch mode is a nice concept but when you quit a mode you are switched to <default> and not to the previous settings
I do not see how to add a specific toolbar to a view mode.
I see a way to select a viewmode with a static number but I define it with a name and do not see a way to select viewmode music from a command.
I do not see any unset view_mode to be back to previous settings...

It's currently in the main menu only. Where should I put it?I do not see any RightClick menu entry to chose view-mode from column menu.

For me a good place could be the generated menu you get when you right click on the columns.ghisler(Author) wrote:It's currently in the main menu only. Where should I put it?I do not see any RightClick menu entry to chose view-mode from column menu.

To prevent Huge list, you can have sub menu, for the generated parts (one for custom columns, one for view modes)

I thought about that too, but mine is already full screen. And submenus are inconvenient.

Here are some ideas from me concerning the view mode menu.

I didn't really think about the eyes metaphor - it's mainly about where to put the menu.

One more idea. Maybe it's a good idea to display the current view mode. There is limited space though...

I like the very first idea best and eyes metaphor is a good idea too.

The bar holds directory path and two buttons (hotlist and history) related to directory as location. View mode does not belong to same logical group, as it relates to directory view style, not location.
If I had to choose between three presented variants, I'd prefer button next to headers control, even though it's a little unusual combination. But if it should go to directory bar, then definitely the space saving small button.

I know that you re not a big fan of submenus but you already get some "almost prepared" from the main show menu ready to be reused.ghisler(Author) wrote:I thought about that too, but mine is already full screen. And submenus are inconvenient.
Also it exists a command OPENCUSTOMVIEW <Custom Colum Name> that only load cutom columns.
Could we have the same for viewmode ?:
OPENVIEWMODE <OPTION> <Viemode Name>
Option could be /STLR Source Target Left Right. (Source by Default)
I also miss a way to "Save Current settings as View Mode" to have viewmode dialog prefilled with current settings.

Yes there is no comprehensive representation for everything what is covered in the view modes. The most comprehensive control is the folder tabs bar. So here is another idea. The folder tab bar would lose some width. The bar holds directory path and two buttons (hotlist and history) related to directory as location. View mode does not belong to same logical group, as it relates to directory view style, not location.

Not so great when you have many tabs.
The question on my mind is how much necessary is showing current mode. If I didn't miss anything, view mode can set columns, sorting, background colors or file list and tab, and tab icon. So it users know what kind of modes they set, it should be fairly obvious for them to tell which one is active, even without dedicated indicator.

Back to the main topic. Here is how I imagine the config page.
