changing file list icons, hidden files/folders in particular

Post by *the_end »

I just upgraded to version 9.16 from 8.01. I noticed that the folder icons have changed and that TC was now showing folders like they look in Windows. I was able to figure out how to change it back to the old school TC look. I added this line in the config file:

Code: Select all

IconLib=C:\totalcmd\totalcmd64.exe
The only thing I cannot change seems to be the "shaded"/darker color on the hidden folders. Can I have them look just like normal folders? (with the red exclamation point). I find the color difference much too distracting.

Thank you.

P.S. I tried posting an image link too but was unable since this is my first post. Will try again later.

Configuration->Options->Icons->Uncheck «Dimmed hidden files»
It's impossible to lead us astray for we don't care even to choose the way.

I can't possibly be that stupid! :lol:

BUT, I really don't have that option showing up under "Icons". Could it be because I installed 9 over 8.01? I'll try a fresh install. Is there a wincmd.ini line I can manually add for that?

IconLib=C:\totalcmd\totalcmd64.exe
If you just want to use the old TC icons, you don't even need to set the iconlib parameter, you can do it from the configuration dialog:
Configuration -> Options -> Icons -> unselect "Show default folder/file icons from Explorer"
License #524 (1994)
Danish Total Commander Translator
TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a
TC 3.50 on Android 6 & 13
Try: TC Extended Menus | TC Languagebar | TC Dark Help | PHSM-Calendar

I don't have that option either... jeez, my installation must be pretty messed up. I'll reinstall and report back.

Yes, I re-installed and I can now see those options. Thank you.
