I would do that in PhotoShop. It is the mother for such tweaks....
Of course, Sans has to sell its soul to me for that

I know how to do simple things in my life. Even some complicated.
Maybe you confused yourself with question to Sam Zen. My question about transparency was only what formats support it. Thanks for that.

the number of posts and the time spent to write them has little to do with their quality. there are exceptions of course, but dont judge a man by his post count :] a user with 10 posts may be of more value to this forum in terms of knowledge and 'helpfulness' than someone with 500 posts who only writes about insignificant stuff and their posts are smileys-only.

What program are you using to set the transparency?
I use a very old version of Paint Shop Pro (3.12)
IrfanView can also do it.

With Majki's avatar I had to manually change several hundred pixels that were off color (a common thing with jpeg's)

IE doesn't support transparent PNGs
My IE 6 shows this transparent PNG OK: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/majki5.png :!:

So some support for PNG transparency does exist in IE.

WMF, EMF support transparency too
WMF, EMF are not supported by Gecko based browsers - I don't know about Opera?

Yep, you are right. Single color transparency is supported. More information here:

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Hmm..... your technique was not very good with my avatar. The off color pixels were artifacts of jpeg compression. You don't have to do it manualy. Photoshop for instance have very powerfull selection types using which you could select boundaries of creature from my avatar.

In this case

1. Convert image to CMYK (maximum setting, that is, black color nuances convert into black chanel [K=FFFFFF] )
2. Select black with magic wand.
3. Invert selection
4. Now you delete things you don't need.
5. Return to RGB

DETAILS for 1:

Edit->Color Settings:
     CMYK->Custom:
         Black Generation: light
         Black Ink Limit: 100%
         Total Ink Limit: 350%
         UCA Amount: 0%

         Press OK, OK :lol:

    Convert RGB->CMYK

Huh..... too many things to write about this... I told you just some parts...

You are right, it seems the same for Opera.

The colors are better, true, but the cut is as bad as mine. I want to have antialiasing at the edges, is it possible? How do you select the contures on the picture?
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

2majkinetor !
Well I don't have PhotoShop (my wife has one though).

It took me about 5 minutes the way I did it. Using Photoshop it would have taken an hour figuring it out, and an hour just getting the colossus started ;-)

The cut is your !

Of course (but AIK blending with backround works only with PNGs with alpha channel transparency). I will try. It must be saved as GIF ?
How do you select the contures on the picture?
In this case it's your selection (tranparent area) saved to file, then loaded to jpg image.
In general with "Magic Wand".

About the Rookie of the Year question, I propose MPS as my candidate. :twisted:

It has written 30 posts aprox. in one day, refloating at least 10 old threads from the Polls Forum, writing some uninteresting comments, and writing a link to a webpage in his signature. :?

I think it's a bit annoying (well, it's VERY annoying, even more for RSS users), I consider it SPAM (as it's not a normal behavior, IMHO) and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet (perhaps is being discussed privately).
