Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC
The title is pretty selfexplaining. I thought it might be useful with a thread where we list, explain and link to tools (preferably FREE) that make the filemanaging/TC-experience even more enjoyable.
I use a small utility called Wizmo http://grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm. It is very small in size, but has a lot of nice features. I started using it mainly for the abilitiy to eject the cd-drive (or any other drive), but it has loads more options.
[mod]A Wiki page "Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC:" summing up the tools mentioned in this thread is now available.

Here you are my list of recent used programs:
TweakWC - a great tool for managing Total Commander optins;
Total Commander FTP Password Ripper - a tool for encoding TCMD's ftp passwords;
Aezey TC Color Presets - a tool for managing TCMD's color presets.

I use a lot of high-powered commercial software, but here are the "little" utilities I cannot live without. I use most of them daily. Most are shareware/freeware/inexpensive:
TotaCommander
ACDSEE PicaView: Places graphics previews with format conversion and print layout in the Explorer context menu
ACDSEE ImageFox: Places graphics previews and folder favorites in Windows open/close dialogs
XNView: Graphic viewer/converter
InfoStore: Hierarchical flatfile database
TextPad: Excellent notepad replacement, but I am probably switching to ConTEXT
TreePad: Hierarchical RTF documents/editor: essential
CDBFW: Fully featured DBF tool
V: Superb text file viewer. Works great with TC.
TexPlorer: View/Parse/edit comma-delimited files as if they were tables
XVI32: Hands-down the best implemented hexadecimal editor in the world
ClipCache Plus: Clipboard management and more
NetCaptor: My web browser
WebCompiler: Web sites in self-contained EXE files
DownloadMage: File download activity management
I observe that most of these utilities are European in origin. The ACDSEE tools and DNLMage are American, V is Australian, but the rest come from Great Britain, Europe, or Russia. I think.
Interesting...

Actually, TweakTC, and it has built-in password ripper. But it saves own configuration to wincmd.ini and has some other annoying features.
The first Commander fine tuning GUI utility I saw was "WC Expert Options" by Roman Stedronsky. I have v.1.0.0.25 from 1998. I can't say I use such utilities - as for me the best TC tuning program is text editor, but I like Roman's approach much more then TweakTC author's. It's a pity, but I can't contact Roman by e-mail. So does anyone have information about him and his project? AFAIK he's from Czech Republic.[/face]

I agree (! - ) with your opinion Black Dog! But if I can remember well there is an about section with his email address within the tool itself. Correct me if I’m wrong coz I don’t use WC Expert Options any more due to the lack of updates!Black Dog wrote:Actually, TweakTC, and it has built-in password ripper. Who cares?

It looks like this is your hobby - talk about the things you don't have any idea about... There is no e-mail there and the e-mail from readme was dead last time I've sent a letter to it. Otherwise I wouldn't say "I can't contact Roman by e-mail". You understand? That's why I ask about this here. Got it? The thing I just can't get is why the guys like you think they are smarter than all others... Great misery.
Well, didn't I told you, Princess, to keep away from my posts? Or you forgot about it? It looks like you want me to fresh-up your memory a bit.
Ok.
I didn't change my opinion about you and your intellectual abilities and never will. You are unpleasant to me, and I do not want to have anything common with you including any form of conversation. So please, do not address or ask me anything and do not mention this nick. Am I clear? Thank you.[/face]

TweakTC has this feature since version 5.50, but my post is much older.Black Dog wrote:[face=courier]On 23-02-2003 23:38:14 +0000 poiuytr wrote:

I tried WC Expert Options. It knows less options of TCMD then TweakTC does.
It was my humble opinion. Black Dog can ignore it if it causes his temper.
