Regarding beta 2, I also like IconsInMenus=17. I would suggest improving the contrast for selected icons with a colored background, maybe like the orange that Microsoft uses in their Office programs.

The icon background depends mainly on the Windows theme you use: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7344/bild1wb3.png

How do I hide icons on individual menu items
You remove them from your WCMICONS.INC or Wciconex.inc file.

But that breaks the link between the command and its associated icon (as for toolbar buttons, for instance)!

Icon visibility for the menus is a presentation layer responsibility! There should be a parameter in the menu item definition line in the mnu file.

Perhaps that could be added easily.

:) Hello !

• If you mean : "Configure them as any icon for any entry of any menu",
I drew THIS FAKE, similar to the button-bar config.
- Indeed, it's a big piece of cake, and I don't hope this before TC… Bhuuu !

IconsInMenus=16 should be mentioned in HLP.

Yes! you are right!

That's why I have been advocating (in the alpha test group - so far without much luck) for having the opportunity to use both an icon library and an icon map file that is connected to the menu file.

That is: if I use a menu file called wcmd_xxx.mnu then if a wcmd_xxx.dll and a wcmd_xxx.map (icon library / map) exists, these files should be used for the icons in the menu.

Note - that should be for the menu only - not for the buttonbar commands.

And this should be VERY easy to implement!

Yup, icons in menus is a nice feature. I've created a poll for this...

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3
x64: Clients/Servers from Win7 to Win11 and Win2K12Srv to Win2K22Srv, mainly Win10 though.

TC7 Beta3.
There is a small cosmetic bug in the menu with the icons. If there is some text in icons, if you put the mouse over the menu line, the text in the icon disappears. They should have better contrast...

Code: Select all

Well which part of the icon should be inverted and which not? The icons haven't been made for selections. This would require a set of masks which.

But why do the icons have to be selected?

That is indeed a good question. I have seen menus with icons in other programs and somehow the icons are not selected. I don't know if this can be done with the menus TC uses but it would be nice.

I like selected icons. An alternative would be to adapt the current icons to dark background. A way is to to draw a light frame around dark areas. This looks really good when done professionally.
