Very good idea!
But...
how can integrate descript.ion´s in this "summary"?
or,
how can I convert my 4DOS "descriptions" to MSWin "comments"?
I´ve 1000s of descriptions of folders and files!

Hi,

converting comments is quite an easy task as plug-in fields can be used as source.

1. Select the relevant files.
2. Open the change file attributes dialog
3. Add the custom attributes to be changed
4. Press the + button at the right to select a field which should be used as source. In this case tc.Comment is probably the field to choose.

You can of course use any other plug-in field as source which makes the new change attributes dialog a quite powerful tool.

I do not know if it is plugin or TC related, but the value field in the Change attributes dialog is not always updated when I press the "Load from file under cursor" button.

For example, I have an mp3 file with empty subject, author, keywords, comments and category fields. The other fields title, artist, genre, year and album are not empty. If I select summary.Year in the Change attributes dialog and load the field it shows the correct value. After changing to summary.Subject and reloading nothing happens. The previous year value is still displayed. Changing to summary.Comments and reloading, however will refresh the value to an empty string. This is confusing to me.

The field value is loaded only when the plugin returns a valid value. If the plugin returns an error like "field not present", the field is not cleared.

Plugin blocks files and folder

Post by *chojny »

Hello,
I was using Summary plugin for few months (TC6.54) without problems, but some time (*) Summary started blocking files and folder such as I can't remove it. After restarting TC blocking problem dissapear.
I started removing all TC plugins and when I removed Summary blocking problem dissapear. I reinstall TC, add Summary plugin but blocking problem showed up again:(.

Have you ever encounter this problem?

system: XP Pro with SP2

* - I didn't do anything special in my system. Few days before "blocking" I installed TC7.01 but it shouldn't be reason, right?

Now I have fresh XP system installed I'll check if I get this blocking again.

Hi,

thanks for testing the beta version of this plug-in.
Summary started blocking files and folder
This had been a known problem in Summary 1.00 BETA 3. It should work fine in Summary 1.00 BETA 4. Which version do you use?

I should mention, sorry. I was using 1.00 BETA 4.

Now, I'm testing 1.00 BETA 4 under TC6.54a and TC7.01, too. Few minutes ago, I encountered described problem again (folder blocking). I use different PC and have fresh XP Pro with SP2 installed.
And again, restarting TC removes "blocking".

There are many fields from MS office documents (word, excel, ppt) which are not currently supported with your plugin. Is it possible to support it, or some other way to show this fields? (word count, paragraph count, slides number etc.)

They are accessed in the summary tab of the file properties window.
