inconsistent behaviour with cm_CopyFullNamesToClip

Supose I have a file with somehow long name 'file_with long.name' in a dir like C:\Documents and Settings\
I switch TC showing short names and press 'Copy path + filename to clipboard' (cm_CopyFullNamesToClip). The result is

C:\Documents and Settings\file_w~1.nam

The result *obviously* should be

C:\docume~1\file_w~1.nam

If if you switch to showing short names BEFORE you enter C:\Documents and Settings then you will get the expected C:\docume~1\file_w~1.nam.

You will get the path you see in the path box above the file panel - and that doesn't change when you switch from viewing long names to viewing short names. I think it should be changed though.
