This feature already says here.
Its not possible at this moment and there isnt a plugin for it.
Maybe it will be in TC 7, i dont know.
But i think you can to make TC transparent. Take a search for it on the forum you will find how to do it.
Yes,
these're the original words of the author.
However, UI function of TC is being requested again and again,
by more and more people,
hope it Should Be taken into consideration in the develop progess for TC 7.
The OS UI is developing day by day, then TC??
As Ghisler wrote here TC 7 will have many visual UI improvements but I guess the possibility to set a background image for the file panel will not be part of the changes.
I meant the visual style,
there are third party visual styles
(sorry, maybe connected with crack issues somehow),
and applications like StyleXp.
Yes we have waited for 4 1/2 years,
(maybe more, 5 years or so ? )
for the final coming of Vista.
It seems that Mr Gates doesn't like UI changing very much,
but for me,
there're still so many visuanl styles to choose.
Can TC do the similar task?
I hope so.
Best regards,
ZHV

huh:)
to comparate ghisler and gates?
first: gates has better lawyers
second: first characters in names are the same
third: explorer? pche. burn it. uninstall it, if you can. destroy it. but the world will still spin around. i hope:) i hope in background in TC. i believe in unfullfilled hopes. still must you believe, that next morning you will wake up. i believe, that some morning i will wake up and i will meet a version of TC with backgroung image. but - what's important more?
I also like the background image feature, and more, I hope that the background image can be configed to be auto changed with a configable interval within some pictures(or a folder). That'll be great!
the best file manager doesnt have a function to skin its background. isnt that ironic?
i know it would excess my pc's performance (p3-733) to enable that function but that simple property should have been there ages ago.. coz if i would have the cpu power to enable it i would try it definitely.
"can't connect to the person you are searching for."
If a feature doesn't contribute at least some utility toward enhancing the primary purpose of a software program, what good is it?
I understand how different background colors and fonts (for panels, folders, file types, for instance) are visually helpful for selecting, seeing groups, and other core activities of TC.
But, how would background TC images help a user toward better, more efficient, more accurate file management using TC?
Perhaps a smooth, low-contrast background image of linen or paper or even fine-grained concrete might enhance the visual appeal of TC and reduce the stress related to some of the tasks we use TC for, but anything else will just confuse the eye and slow you down. There is a lot of published research about the cognitive psychology of human perception which supports this statement.
So... all you guys who want background images in the panels: why do you want this? How would it make you and TC work better together?
I'm a utilitiarian and just don't see the purpose for background images in a file manager. 3D modeling software, for sure. MP3 players, perhaps.
- In a file manager, such BG images are quite useless, and even undesirable. Just good to strain the eyes…
- Why to get that ? To make that the reading becomes blurred ? No, thank you ! Na ! (So there!)
They are not useless and also not undesirable. There is nothing wrong with background images at all, I bet that most of you have a desktop image as well although it serves no other purpose than a little distraction for your eyes.
Please, everyone, stop telling that features are unneeded just because you don't need them. Will this ever stop? Sad, just sad.
• Ah ! Great, a row with you again ! This didn't occur for … Bhuuuu… Ages !
- For those who want for a BG image, I guess that TC might support an adjustable BG transparency or so… that is not done yet, and when it'll be (if done a day), the Hen'll have got teeth (again) and my new home'll be a pretty woody box
