Delete operation is very slow

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Delete operation is very slow

Post by *maximuss »

When i use Total Commander (7.0pb4) to large amounts of file then its very slow. Its so slow that i have time to read what the filename is, and thats even if the file is <1mb
When i use the builtin delete function in my windows (Vista Ultimate - 64 bit) then its very much faster.
If you need more information of sime kind then let me know so i can provide it for you, since it never fails i dont have any kind of log :)

Best Regards

This happens when your recycle bin is very full. TC deletes one file after the other in normal mode, which takes a while when the bin is quite full.

Try to delete with Shift+Del (bypassing the bin), or using the Explorer method.

Unfortunately this behaviour cannot be changed, because Windows doesn't report which files were deleted and which not when deleting them all in one operation...
