Cursor in lister?
Is there a special reason that there is no cursor in the lister, and i can select a text only with the mouse?
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
Yes, so that you can scroll with Up / Down and don't have to wait until the cursor reaches the lower / upper end of the screen before scrolling starts.

Mozilla firebird has a great solution to this.
Shift + arrowkeys selects text.
Arrowkeys scroll the page.
The "carret" is locate where the last click on the page was located.
The carret is not visible.

Anyway, we all have editors, but Lister is really great with large files. I found, that when selecting a text with the mouse, it is still possible to move the text with the arrow and PageDown keys. That helps a little, even though it is funny when I drag the mouse and with the left hand I press the cursor buttons
. Left handed people are in advantege, lol

You can still use cursor keys, page up/down, home+end while selecting with the mouse! I think that this is a reasonable compromise. I don't want to show a cursor because I hate it when I have to move the cursor to the end of the page until scrolling finally occurs! Lister starts to scroll immediately. But IMHO selecting ONLY with the mouse is a huge disadvantage, especially when copying large amount of text! Have you tried it? It is frustrating.

Does anyone know of a viewer or editor, comparable with lister in speed with large files, which handles a cursor? The only reason is copying large pieces of text from really large logfiles.
Or as an alternative, a feature request: optionally switch cursor on. How many would need such a feature?

I'd like it (as an option). Sometimes it is useful.SanskritFritz wrote:Does anyone know of a viewer or editor, comparable with lister in speed with large files, which handles a cursor? The only reason is copying large pieces of text from really large logfiles.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

I've already suggested an optional curser for the lister some time ago. Christians comment has been to use the plugin hpg_ed
I'd love a hotkey 'c' to switch a cuser on (for selecting text per keyboard) or off (default, for fast scrolling via keyboard)
I don't know why, but every time when something like this was suggested (a couple of times till yet) christian said he would't implement it
perhaps we can convice him with a poll for an optional curser via 'c' to take advantage of both, curser and no curser.....

Everyone should be able to start a poll... What went wrong?. Looks like I cannot start a poll.
