TC7.5B1 and Virtual PC

Post by *ricobautsch »

Copying files with total commander between hostsystem and Virtual PC via Drag'n Drop is not possible.
I remember that in the past someone says this is related to the missing unicode support of TC and will be solved with TC 7.5.
But sadly also with TC 7.5 Beta1 it's not possible and will be abortet with an error message in the Virtual PC.

Sorry, then I don't know what could be causing the problem. :(

Anyone has an idea?

Blind guess: maybe there some problem with VPC being x64?
ricobautsch, what's your Windows version (exact version)?

No one of the operating systems is a 64 bit.
The host system is Vista 32bit, the VPC is XP 32 bit.

I have VPC images with Win2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 too. Maybe i can test with these tomorrow, but i guess it's not related to the operating system.

Did you installed virtual machine additions (Right Alt+ I), I remember that, drag and drop between host and guest is not supported if these additions are not installed.

Yes, of course, the VMAdditions are installed.
Using Explorer as Drag'n Drop destination (also if starting Drag'n Drop from TC) is working perfectly.

If dragging to TC (whatever direction, host->guest or guest->host), then following happens:

1. Following error message:

Code: Select all

Fehler auf dem Hostsystem beim Kopieren von Dateien.

Fehler in Virtual PC (d6)
Value in the brackets depends on the copy direction.
Copying from guest to host is value "d3", copying from host to guest is value "d6".

2. a folder named "DragonDropProcessFolder" is created in the destination folder

Microsoft seems to do something very special copying files between real and virtual pc.
