Statusbar in Thumbnails mode

Post by *wanderer »

It would be very useful if the statusbar (just below the file panel) displayed the filename (as in brief mode) instead of always displaying "0/x bytes in 0/y files" when in Thumbnails mode and no file is selected. When image names are too long and appear with ellipsis, this could be really useful.

Support+++

That would be consistant since Brief View and Thumbnail View act the same way in so many other aspects.

Right. It's so obvious, i wondered why it wasn't already working that way. At first i thought it might be a bug so i checked 7.04a...

Try this option in wincmd.ini, section [Configuration]
LongInStatus=1

This shows the name in the status bar in full view when nothing is selected.

But that setting displays that all the time then, not just in Brief View and Thumbnail mode.

Flags needed…

Post by *Clo »

2Boofo

:) Hi Bob !

• You are right, so the entry might get extra flags like i.e.:
(1 : In all view modes) as currently
2: In Brief View only
3: In Thumb nails View only
5: Like 3+2

What do you think ?

I don't mind either way. I'm happy there's already a way to see the filename in Thumbnails mode.

Thanks Christian.

Strange but I see only file name and extension with LongInStatus=1 in full and thumb mode. In TC 7.50 and TC 7.04a. So, I think LongInStatus=1 fully solves the trouble.

It should only be in Thumbnail and Brief View mode. In full mode you lose the file/dir size.

:shock: You're right, i hadn't noticed that. I suppose then it should be in all modes as it is in Brief: display all columns that are visible in full mode.

Clo has the perfect solution (see above).

Claude's solution specifies when to show the info in the statusbar, not what to show... :)

Your way would be even better added to Clo's settings. But I don't see Christian going that route as I'm sure it would entail more than a simple setting fix.

I'm afraid of that too. In any case, it's better to have at least this solution than nothing at all.
