TC7.5rc1 - Column not fully visible on mouse select

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC7.5rc1 - Column not fully visible on mouse select

Post by *fbuschle »

I think i've found a bug in TC7.5rc1:

I am viewing the file list in short view mode (Ctrl+F1), so that the file names are displayed in a multi column layout. The rightmost column is only partially visible.

If i now select a file of the rightmost column with the mouse, the list does not scroll horizontally so that the whole column becomes visible. This is working when using the arrow keys.

Best regards and keep the good work up

Isn't this by design? Either autoscroll or no scroll?

Confirmed!

BTW It is strange to discover sthis bug in such late time (RC). Looks like no one is using short view mode? :D

Hacker does. See the QS-cursor-key-navigation thread. :-)

I prefer long.

I'm not sure I get what you are saying. When I use the short view mode and tag a file in the far right column, I can use the mouse wheel and it will scroll just fine both left and right. Am I doing something different than what you are saying?

2Boofo
Scroll the view up to the moment when last column is not fully visible and click on some file in it then. TC should reveal such column automatically.

It got changed between private beta8 and beta9.
03.02.09 Fixed: Brief view: Auto-scroll partially visible file into view only when user clicks on it near the edge of the screen
I can't say I like that feature - it is even more impossible to know, than the long right click menu. It is not very intuitive, and it seems to ONLY be documented in line 696 in the history.txt file

This isn't a bug! I got many many complaints about this scrolling when clicking on an item in the rightmost column, so I really had to change it. Btw, the side-scrolling in TC 7 is a bug in Windows theming only, the classic view didn't have this bug.

Maybe it's possible to switch this via an entry in the ini file ...

Over the many years with Total Commander i've got used to that old style clicking behaviour.

But as i know yet that the click position is significant, i can live with that solution too.
