2Hacker
if someone composes a file name for several minutes I think he can spare the two seconds it takes to type that sequence
Well, your Autohotkey script does solve a part of the problem, thank you.

However the bigger part of the problem still remains:
- it is not possible to edit a filename only (without extension, which really disturbs)
- this modal window called by {F6} is anyway too narrow (http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=305291#305291)
- your script is a work-around (thanks again), which uses an external soft, but usually I'd prefer a TC native option.

So I hope, that dear Ghisler will find 10 minutes to add an appropriate option to avoid unexpected lost of file rename results and in this event a user can normally use in-place rename window by Shift+F6 hotkey.

But what if someone doesn't like AHK and wants to rename files faster? What if someone prefers F6-like dialog on Shift+F6 but with filename only?
Then he definitely has the right to make a suggestion for this feature - especially when it is optional - in this part of the Forum ;-)
