I use TC 8.01, 64 bist, on a german windows 7 64 bit installation.
I 've got two password encrypted zip files. On opening of theses files TC 8.01 does not ask for a password and does not show the content of the zip file. The zip-file seems to be empty.
I installed additionally TC 7.56 32 bit. This TC version demands correctly for the password, shows the content of the zip file and handles the zipped files correctly.

Hello, Kommunarde.
Cannot confirm the problem.
Used Total Commander 8.01 32-bit on a totally different machine. Created 2 encrypted zipfiles. One time the selected encryption was ZIP2.0, one time it was AES256.
Transferred both ZIP files to my machine.
Double-clicked the ZIP2.0 encrypted file in Total Commander 8.01 64-bit and then the file inside the archive. A password dialogue popped up. Entered the password. T.C. opened the ZIP file and the file inside the ZIP-file properly.
Double-clicked the AES256 encrypted file in Total Commander 8.01 64-bit and then the file inside the archive. A password dialogue popped up. Entered the password. T.C. opened the ZIP file and the file inside the ZIP-file properly.
I suggest you check your Total Commander 8.01 64-bit installation. As I have got a combined 32-bit + 64-bit T.C. installation these are the relevant file properties:For Total Commander 8.01 64-bit the relevant DLL is WCMZIP64.DLL.
Kind regards,
Karl

I did this test to see whether it could be that TC could not read encrypted zip files made with older TC versions:
Used TC 7.04 (32bit) to make four encrypted zipfiles with the four different encryptions (ZIP2.0, AES128, AES192 and AES256). Thereafter opened all these files with TC 8.01 x64 - no problems.

Are your 2 files originally made with older TC or are they made with a third party program?
