Solved [9.0ß1] doesn't handle folder icons from IconLib correct

Post by *petermad »

I don't like the new TC9 folder icons in the file panels so I use: IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\totalcmd850.icl in wincmd.ini to make it look like it did in TC8.50

You can download totalcmd850.icl here http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/totalcmd850.icl

But TC9b1 doesn't handle the folder icons correct. When the folders are marked system and/or readonly TC9b1 uses it's internal folder icons, and when the folder is marked hidden the folder icon from totalcmd850.icl is faded

See: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/TC9folders.png
and how it should look: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/TC8folders.png

Could it please be fixed so that it looks like it did in TC8.50.

EDIT: Just noticed that TC9b1 also uses the system icons in the breadcrumb menu despite the IconLib setting

This can make it easier: IconLib=%COMMANDER_EXE%, but it does not negate the main request, which I support.

Since the old icons are still embedded in TC's exe-file I would suggest an option in the Configuration: "Use system folder icons" and if not ticked then make everything work as it did pre-TC9. or the other way around: "disable use of system folder icons"

The consequent way would be to use your favorite icons system-wide.

You, mean use favorite icons also in for example Microsoft Explorer - is that doable without hacking Windows' system files?

Sure. There are plenty of Windows customization tools out there but you can of course also edit the registry manually.

Well that is usually not something you are alllowed to do on corporate computers, and if I use TC on af USB-stick on other peoples computers, which I often do, if I have to help them, then it is not an option either.

Please try beta 2 for the file list icons.

Unfortunately both the breadcrumb bar and folder tabs currently only support the new icons. Maybe in a later beta.

Works fine for file panels and tree panels now. But in 64bit version hidden folder icons are faded, which they are not in 32bit version. I prefer the 64bit behaviour.
Maybe in a later beta.
Looking forward to that :-)

When using iconlib, TC9 beta 2 should now show them not dimmed, but with "!" symbol as TC 8.x.

Confirmed fixed in TC9b3

I will add an option to let the user choose between exclamation mark, faded icon, or both, but it didn't make it in beta 3 yet - it requires more changes like a separate ! icon to be used as an overlay with the Explorer icons.
