Problem with JP2 extensions JPEG2000 images don't show

Post by *TC9FAN »

This applies to TC9 Beta/ TC8. Thumbnail images for JPEG-2000 don't show in the lister neither does the image when selected in the viewer (as an image) Irfan-view is installed and the checkbox under configuration...Thumbnails is checked for use.

AFAIK this extension is not enabled by default.

At your wincmd.ini file find section [Lister] and add a new entry

Code: Select all

IviewAdditionalTypes=*.JP2

After reading the reply I modified my TC's wincmd.ini file with the suggested line, however the closest to [Lister] section is [ListerPlugins] section so I entered it there. Unfortunately this change has not made any difference to displaying of JPEG2000 image files.

No, it must be [Lister] section. If it doesn't exist, simply create it. But make sure that you don't end up with two sections with that name!

sqa_wizard,
AFAIK this extension is not enabled by default.
It's easy to check:
IviewAdditionalTypes= Additional file types which should be passed to Irfanview/Xnview for conversion
Example: *.xyz *.abc
If an already supported type is listed here, e.g. *.tif, then the file isn't also detected by content. The following file types are sent to Irfanview/Xnview even without this option:
jfif, tga, tif, tiff, pcx, ani, acr, cam, clp, cpt, cur, dcx, dib, eps, g3, iff, img, lbm, lwf, pbm, pgm, pcd, ppm, psd, psp, ps, ras, rle, sfw, iw44, djvu, rgb, dcm, acr, wbmp, mos, kdc, xbm, xpm, swf, fpx, sgi, jp2, j2k

Roman
Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

neither does the image when selected in the viewer (as an image)
Is the option in Listers configuration: "Use Irfanview7Xnview to load graphics ofther than BMP" checked in your setup?

Anyway, it works OK here for me to show thumbnals for .jp2 files in TC's Thumbnail View (even without IviewAdditionalTypes=*.JP2).

Maybe there is somthing wrong with your JPEG-2000 files - can they be shown in Irfanview?

Does Irfanview/Xnview display that specific jp2 file when you open it in Irfaview/Xnview?

Sorry about the delay in answering. Irfanview does display this specific jp2 file as well as the others that are in its folder. Irfanview displays a thumbnail of the image(usingIrfanView Thumbnails a different app) and can display its full picture in its viewer.
I tried the suggestion in one suggestion to create a Lister section in the config but that did not work.

note I have now got TC working see post below :)

Did you configure the path to IrfanView in TC's Lister settings? Options > Edit/View > Configure internal viewer > Use IrfanView/Xnview to load graphics other than BMP.

Hi,
I Added this line under [Lister] section that I created in wincmd.ini
IviewAdditionalTypes=*.JP2 will try your suggestion.

That doesn't answer my question. IViewAdditionalTypes is not necessary for JP2, I just checked.

Windows file explorer was not showing .jp2 in any icon view mode the jp2 images nor could not preview them either.
IrfanView 64 was not able to display as .jp2 icons(when opening a folder with .jp2 files in) but could display a preview. The app IrfanView 64 Thumbnails which installed along with the other was able to display both as tiles/thumbnails and previews.
XnView was also able to display both Thumbnails and preview. So now I configured the path in TC to viewer,Default : C:\Program Files (x86)\XnView\xnview.exe" "%1"
and TC can now display them. So it was that IrfanView 64 was the culprit.
