Total Commander Menu Files, Tools and Discussion Thread

Post by *pdavit »

Dear friends,

I’m starting this thread concerning menu files for TotalCmd. We can discuss any related subjects here if you like and individual users can post their versions here to have everything organized.

Here is mine, a menu file that includes all internal commands of TC (only for power users): TCExtMenu.mnu

As new versions of TC become available and if new internal commands are available along to any refinements I have for my menu file I will upload it on the aforementioned URL.

Kind regards,
Panos

PS: The current menu file is for the latest released version of TotalCmd. If you experience any problems let me know. If you have any suggestions I’ll be more than happy to hear them.

Thank you!

I found out the "Clipboard to File/Path Actions" I wasn't aware of! :!:
These functions are really useful!

A necessary cross link as the title of this thread includes menu tools as well:

Try coping the link location then past it in TC as a URL (cm_FtpNew). It will be still slow to download but eventually you will get the file. It took me 7-8 minutes on my 56k modem to download this 180k file!!!

I was planning to host the file in my web space but I have to ask Roman (aka Hacker) about it first.

Panos, it's a fantastic job! If you agree, I'll translate it for french users.

Just discovered "synchronous directory change" : very useful on a network !

Thanks! Feel free to make any changes and the translation.

I have a newer version available with some tiny tweaks and some additions for the up-coming version of TC. Ones it is released I will upload it on the link you see on my first post.

thanks pdavit!

I downloaded the file using TC's downloader and it took me just a couple of seconds with one ISDN line: and it's not corrupt! TC's downloader is really fast here!

cresk, Panos,
Is it really that slow? (Or does it work now?) :( I knew that the foreign connectivity isn't that high, but so slow... Well, you can host it Panos, just don't make it look anyhow official (ie no tools collection or something). BTW: I have an Angelfire account, too, but it's small and has ads so I prefer host.sk.

2 Hacker

Thanks! It won’t look official as there is no web interface and probably will never be!!! I’m using this account primarily as a web space for TC only. It’s free and it provides 20mb which is more than enough just for TC! My index.html has just links for TC related files! I don’t post the main address here but just the direct links to the files. So the automatic adds are hidden from the users!

2 All

Here is the French version of my menu file: TCExtMenuFr.mnu

Credit goes to Ben Hub for the translation. Thanks!

This is also an alternative link where you can download TC Menu Editor: TCME.zip

Edited: Modified TCME file name to something simpler based on Roman’s suggestion as well as to have something global for future versions (well, not the best approach for perfectionists but I’m human after all!)

Be careful with dots in the name as some browsers might download the file as ASCII.

Total Commander v5.51 is finally here! A new version of my menu file has been uploaded on the link you see on the first post of this thread. It includes all the new internal commands of v5.51 in addition to a new menu called “User Menu” based on one of the new features of v5.51 (please read the instructions to modify according to your needs; check also the totalcmd.inc file).

This menu file has been extensively tweaked in the following areas:

- Added some missing shortcuts displaying at the same time duplicates (hmmm!)
- Improved redundancy (yeah I know, that conflict with the above! :D).
- Organised entries more productively under further sub-menus “hiding” as well in this way some less frequently-used entries.
- Extensive documentation within the file for your aid.
- User definable shortcuts (please check for duplicates with your settings).
- Redefined some &s. (The underlined letters you see when pressing Alt)
- Root menu re-ordering and some renaming.
- Clearer visual re-ordering and grouping to easily locate a desirable entries.
- Introduced a file menu version number so that I can be able to inform users about the additions/modifications of future changes (starting at… what else v1.0.5.51!). That was mainly the outcome of people wanting to modify this file for other languages.
