You possibly tried to copy with TC running? I wasn't able to overwrite fileinfo.wlx even after unload plugins.

Have a look with fileinfo - plugin at new fieinfo.wlx. Should reporet the version 2.0.7.0.

Hmmm. I had used Plugman to uninstall 2.0.6, restart TC, then install 2.0.7 and assumed it would overwrite the older files. I assumed wrong!
I've since uninstalled again, manually deleted the old files from TC's folder and then re-installed. Now all's well again.
Thanks.

I've an Access Violation 629C3C03 (Read of address DD7AF05A) while opening exe, dll files. When I press "Continue execution" plugin works as usual.

Btw, the same happens with MMedia on any kind media files.

Here is the screenshot of an error which i've got each time i open binary files:

Maybe it will help you to understand the problem.

I don't have such problems here. I'm using TC 7 BETA 1 and FileInfo 2.07.

Strogg,

I tried fileinfo on TC 7.0 but it works perfectly, may be it's due to another plugin placed before.Try to place fileinfo first in the lister list, and retry on an executable
may be this will help you to find the origin of the problem

take me informed if this problem persists

Hello Franзois,

I have fileinfo placed first in my lister list but I mentioned that the error once in a while is going away. For example when I use fileinfo it always shows an error for the first time, but can open the same file normally after a while.

May be somehow it is related with my OS, but it still works fine with TC 6.55.

Same at me.
If I place the plugin first place, the other plugins do not work.
I have the error with not all the exe files. Interesting.

There are some error reports from users in russian version of totalcmd.net (wincmd.ru). (Thanks God, I'm not alone :) )
Actually plugin returns error in Windows XP with SP1. The error doesn't occurs with SP2. Very strange...

Hi all!

I have some difficulties to resolve this error because fileinfo works well on all machines I've installed on.

But...
there is a long time fileinfo was not updated and may be this error disappear with a new release.

What is new in FILEINFO 2.08
first, a problem with the LoadlibraryEx procedure on Machine under Win9x or Me permits execution of initialization code with some DLL.
for security, this function is disabled under this operating system and an option was added to force fileinfo to use it.

you can now disassemble the main function. read "readme.txt" to activate this opton

An option to stop pre-detecting COM Interface was added but some OLE type library will be not detected

You can download it here:

and you can always see webpage at:

Unfortunately this is not fixed. Same error at random times, I can't find a pattern.
