Two minor HPC suggestions for the Beta

Post by *sch01ar »

Thanks for Total Commader - I've only now begun to understand how powerful it is. I used to use GSFinder as my "main" file manager (opening, searching etc), and TC for moving, zipping etc. Now I realise I can set the viewers to open other applications than the default, I've removed GSFinder and am Totally Commanding....

There are a couple of things that would make it so much better for us diehard large screen HPC users - these comments both relate to the "large icons" view:

1. When you open TC in icon mode, it always arranges the icons across a "half screen" - ie - ppc width screen, with a scroll down. That means you have to CTRL R before you can see anything. Not much, I know, but a continual niggle.

2. The way TC displays filenames and the spacing / leading between the icons is very unintuitive - long file names overlay icons on lower rows, etc. and if you have alot of files it's difficult to see clearly. If there was an option to turn off the three digit file suffix (eg txt) this would help alot.

Don't mean to sound whiny - TC is a superb program, and I'm happy that it free, a great service and thanks.

The file extension cannot be disabled at this time, sorry.
