minimal mode, vista like folder navigation and symlink suppo

Post by *chrislu »

hi,
i am using total commander as my only file manager now since version 3.x. as you can see in screenshot 1 i am using it in a minimal user interface configuration. as this i would like to also be able to hide the main menu bar. this can be done with a menu item in the window menu (when you click the icon on the upper left corner of the window) to hide or unhide the menu bar. this is an option present in current ACDsee versions and helps to clear up the user interface.

secondly i think the breadcrumb navigation of the current folder like in the vista windows explorer (screenshot 2) or in the gnome file browser would be very helpful (when using the mouse for some tasks). this could be done as a addition of the existing folder bar in top of the file pane in totalcommander where the current folder is shown.

and thirdly, support for windows vista soft and hardlink capabilities which are currently only accessable by the command line (mklink).

thanks

The Vista-style 'breadcrumb-navigation' was already suggested here.

Again I highly support this addition! Although I assume it surely is too late for TC7, I hope it already is on the author's wishlist...

thanks for your hints to other threads.
nice to know that the menu bar can be hidden, but i think a more convenient way to do this could work as i described through a menu item in the window menu.

i will show my support in the thread for the breadcrumb navigation.
