[REQ/SUG] Feed to Listbox in Synchronize window

Post by *djorge »

A while ago i asked for "Explorer Context menu in Synchronize window" feature but Ghisler said that there were problems.

As the Context Menu feature is not possible, what do you think of adding two buttons "Add To ListBox", one for the right window and another for the left window in the Synchronize window. This would be amazing because i could feed to the listbox those file that are different and do whatever i want to these files in the file panel.

What do you think of this suggestion?

It seems that there are no interestest in this suggestion, so here is a pactical scenario where this would be usefull:

I work a lot with clearcase and i like to use the synchronization feature to check which files were modified. I compare my local files with the files of clearcase with synchronize directories. The problem is that i need to check out the files from clearcase before copyng the files (with synchronize feature).

If the "feed to listbox" were implemented i could use it to feed the panel with files that i need to check out. Afteryards could do a synchronize directories again, but this time i could copy the files because the files from clearcase are already check out.

Unfortunately showing a context menu for multiple files from several directories is problematic - you can see some of these problems when you use search - feed to listbox. That's the main reason why I haven't added it yet to the sync tool.

But even with the context menu problem it is still an usefull feature because one could for instance use the wdx plugins or use the feature "Copy names with path" or any other function allowed.

I think it would improve a lot the funnctionality of TC.

Supported!

I also work with ClearCase, and am missing that feature badly! What about providing such functionality for Synchronizations concerning single folders only. We could then do the task going folder by folder (in pairs)

[REQ/SUG] Feed to Listbox in Synchronize window - review

Post by *Svilen Kolev »

I just figured out I'm missing the feature, requested in "[REQ/SUG] Feed to Listbox in Synchronize window".
Can it be given a second thought?
I really think it'll greatly improve the file manager.
I could just add, that after selecting such an option, the Synchronize window can be closed to not get in a confusing situation.
Also, if this is still difficult to implement, providing an option to apply the selection of just a directory to the main window will be a good approach.

How is it a problem? The list would be just like the Search feed to listbox,

Code: Select all

C:\The\Files\Full\Path\is\shown.txt
C:\Another\Files\Full\Path\example.txt
And utilize a custom column like:

Code: Select all

Path____ | 254 | <- | [=tc.path]
FullName | 80 | <- | [=tc.fullname]
Would be a very useful feature.
